Here’s how to flush it safely:

• Scoop solids separately and dispose of them in the trash. This is important for health and environmental safety, and it’s required by most local regulations.
• Only flush urine clumps, and do so in small amounts—one scoop at a time is best.
• If you have a septic tank or older plumbing, make sure it’s capable of handling flushable litter. When in doubt, start slow or consult your plumber.
• Always check your local rules. Some municipalities restrict flushing pet waste or biodegradable litter, even if it’s safe for your system.

If flushing doesn’t feel like the right fit for your home, composting (for non-edible plants) or tossing in a biodegradable bag are both great eco-conscious alternatives.
