8 Reasons To Be Thankful for the Cat(s) in Your Life

How we love our fur babies! From their cute little noises to their goofy shenanigans. We adore our feline friends and can’t imagine our homes without them in it.

This is the time of the year when you are giving thanks for what you have in your life. You are thankful for your healthy family, your job, your freedom, and so much more. There’s a lot to be grateful for. Don’t forget to include your furbaby this Thanksgiving.

Let’s take a look at a few reasons why you should be grateful for your cat’s presence in your life.

Cats Provide Unconditional Love

Cats provide the kind of unconditional and non-judgmental love that makes you feel good and appreciated. Your kitty will always be there for you at the end of a long day. She will be happy to see you and she will love you no matter what kind of day you’ve had. She doesn’t care if you spilled coffee on your computer at work. (Can you tell what I did at work today?!...)

So next time you’re feeling down and nothing seems to be going your way, take a look at your cat and see the way that she looks at you. No matter how much you mess up she will always be there to give you pure unconditional love.

Cats Are Great Stress Relievers

Cats can be therapeutic and simply petting your cat can activate stress relievers that can calm you instantly. Cats purr to heal themselves and to communicate their needs with us.

“And the purr may not just be of benefit to the cats themselves. Petting a cat has long been seen as a form of stress relief – cat ownership could cut the risk of stroke or heart disease by as much one-third. Those same frequencies cats purr at might also be doing good to us as well.” BBC

It’s proven that a purring cat can help heal broken bones, lower blood pressure, and even prevent heart attacks.

Be thankful because your cat is apparently saving you a lot of money on expensive medical bills.

Kitties Are the Best Snuggle Buddies

Cuddling is proven to release happy hormones, like oxytocin, which make us feel content and happy. Cuddling can reduce stress, boost your immune system, and even help you sleep better.

Go ahead and cuddle with your furbaby and thank her for keeping that happy hormone racing in your body that in turn keeps you happy, healthy, and sleeping well.

Cats Provide Hours of Entertainment

Cats are all-in-one home entertainment systems. Watch your cat run goofily around the house after her toys and you’re sure to crack a few laughs. No need to go out and spend money on expensive show tickets. You have all the fun entertainment you need right at home.

We know that laughter is the best medicine. So, once again, your kitty is helping you avoid costly medical bills and is helping you live longer just by being her crazy, adorable self.

Cats Are the Best Roommates

Roommates can be hit-or-miss, right? You can get a noisy roomie that blasts loud music all day or get the creepy one that likes to go through your things when you’re not home. (We’ve all had one or the other...and only special people, like me, have had both!).

Cats make the best roommates because they never leave the toilet seat up or leave dirty dishes in the sink. They are the roomies that sleep most of the time and don’t make too much noise. They even clean themselves so there’s no fight over the shower in the morning.

Don’t forget to thank your kitty for being such an amazing roommate.

Cats Bring You Gifts

Cats love to bring you gifts because you are the greatest human in the world. Your cat is demonstrating her love and appreciation for you when she brings you little presents. Those gifts can be half-dead rodents or chewed up insects, but it’s all in the name of love.

It’s always nice to receive gifts. Remember, it’s the thought that counts.

Kitties Keep You Youthful

Taking care and being responsible for a pet can keep you on your toes and active. Your cat will have you out the door to buy cat food, cleaning her litter box, and she may even play hide and seek with you.

We can’t keep the years from rolling in, but we can certainly try to stay young at heart. Luckily, your cutie is there, trying to keep you active and young.

Cats Are Cool

Let’s face it, cats are just plain cool! There’s a reason why cat videos on the internet are one of the top searches. Instagram is bursting with accounts of cats that have hundreds of thousands of followers, if not millions! They are unpredictable, they do their own thing, and they are so chill.

So having your feline friend will automatically make you cool too. You can thank her for that!

This Thanksgiving, while you are giving thanks with family and friends, don’t forget to include your feline friend for all the great things that she brings into your life every single day.

Remember she keeps you healthy, saves you money, and makes you cool.
